‘Star Wars: The Cestus Deception, A Clone Wars Novel’ – Chapter 71 (Part 2)
Wednesday. A typical day for me. Well, typical with only one kid in the house and with my wife not having to work today. I got up around nine o’clock this morning and started to get ready for work. I watched “Dr. Phil” as I shaved and took a shower and got ready for work. Heather didn’t really crawl out of bed until almost ten o’clock. But, then again, I have to cut her a break because she normally gets up at five-thirty every day. I got some lunch/breakfast while watching “Frasier” and then headed off to work. Heather said she had two goals today. One was to get ahold of Dave from Spiedie Fest, the other was to order the lightsabers. In amongst all of that, she was heading to her sister’s in Auburn to get her hair cut with Tara.
I left and went to work. As soon as I showed up, I knew something was up because my boss was a little nervous and seemed to be running around a lot. That’s when I discovered the District Manager was showing up. I always get a little nervous with Brian (the District Manager) around. He and my wife didn’t get along so well and I am always afraid he’s going to take out his frustration with her on me. Luckily, that didn’t happen today. That was the bad news for the day, the good news was that I was on front sandwiches today and didn’t really get a lot of flack from Brian. However, the grill guy got toasted by Brian, but he kind of deserved it. He wasn’t doing anything by code or up to Wendy’s specs and Brian was getting pretty upset about it. It was a stressful day and I had my back all stressed out before leaving work.
I called Heather on my way home and she told me she had some good news and some bad news. The good news was that she had gotten ahold of Dave and it appears we are getting all the passes we need for the event, which is nice. The bad news is that the lightsabers were not able to get ordered yet and our order got rejected for some reason. We’ll have to figure it out later. I got home and crashed. I took a nap for a little while and then helped Heather get some dinner together. We made dinner and sat down and ate and then I decided to destress downstairs a little. I played “Call of Duty 4″ online for about an hour and then worked on some more of the latest episode of “Galaxy Cast” while I watched “So You Think You Can Dance” and “America’s Got Talent” and then went to bed. Tomorrow was going to be a little bit lighter of a work day, which would be nice.
Okay, so let’s talk about Part 2 of Chapter 71 of “Star Wars: The Cestus Deception, A Clone Wars Novel” by Steven Barnes……Chapter 71 (Part 2): By sunrise of the next day, Obi-Wan saw the addition of Nate as a way to increase their efficiency. Obi-Wan sensed that the returned soldier was together physically, but not mentally. Obi-Wan asked Jangotat where he had gone but the clone told the Jedi that he was not exactly sure. He then watched the trooper go through hand to hand comat training with the other troopers and his training was different today. Kenobi wasn’t sure, but then confirmed what he saw. There was a flow to his motion that only Jedi’s had been trained to do. Kenobi asked them if Master Fisto had been training them in Jedi flow drills and Forry was embarassed to say yes. Then Kenobi asked if he could join in on the sparring and they all agreed. His first sparring partner was Jangotat himself. Obi-Wan was impressed with the clone’s strength and speed, but he couldn’t help bu tto play with the clone a little and not overwhelm the fight completely. As he sparred against other commandos he realized that Jangotat had an ability to almost know what his opponent was thinking or feeling. It was hard to believe this was the samed wounded commando from before……
