‘Star Wars: The Cestus Deception, A Clone Wars Novel’ – Chapter 79

Wednesday and this was one more day ticking closer to the end of my summer vacation.  I had to get to work by eleven-thirty, so I had to get up and get going this morning.  So, I got up around nine o’clock and watched “Dr. Phil” while I started to get ready for work.  I then watched “Frasier” while I age my breakfast/lunch and a little bit of “Gillmore Girls” before heading off for work.  I left the house about five minutes before Heather entered the house.

I got to work and was on carry-out sandwiches again today.  That was cool with me.  I ran that position for the entire day and was able to run around and help where I could.  I did everything from coordinating to doing the dining room, to cleaning trays, to running fryers, to doing the PC position.  It kept me busy, but at least it wasn’t as hot in the store today as it was yesterday.  I got done with my job at Wendy’s and drove home.

Not much happened at the house while I was gone.  I got in the door and we talked for a little bit and then Heather made some dinner for the family.  We had a nice dinner of grilled cheese sandwiches, chips, and deviled eggs.  We got done with dinner and I came downstairs and worked on my blog while watching some TV.  Heather left with Tara for soccer practice while I took a half hour and played “Call of Duty 4″ on my PS3.  I then watched some more TV and blogged a little more when she came home.  We met up with the person that is going to take care of our dog while we’re gone this weekend and then we watched our usual shows tonight.  We watched “Dog:  The Bounty Hunter” (two episodes) and then “Mama Mia” (not by choice, it was my only way to keep my wife in the room).  After that, we went to bed.

Okay, so let’s talk about Chapter 79 of “Star Wars:  The Cestus Deception, A Clone Wars Novel” by Steven Barnes…..Chapter 79:  ChikatLik was beneath them as Obi-Wan, G’Mai, and Kit stood on a bridge over-looking the city.  She noted how her people go about their daily lives not knowing what happened.  She went on to explain that Debbikin, the Por’Tens, her cousin Quill and over half the Llitoshi clan were now dead.  She said the Five Families would now have to settle with the hive council along with Cestus Cybernetics.  She was surprised that no one on the planet understood that this meant they were now free.  Fisto wondered if they were, but Kenobi told Duris that she is the only person who told the truch in the whole affair and that made her an amazing woman.  She told the Jedi he was too kind and said that they have been more than generous by sticking to the Supreme Chancellor’s initial terms.  But Kenobi said he does not negotiate on either end.  He told her he had regretted having to deceive her.  She said they were not friends in in the world of politics, truth is also something to barter with.  She then said that the Republic agrees to give them service droid contracts in exchange for he halt of JK droid production and safety of the planet.  Kenobi described it as a running start and the Regent thanked him.  Kenobi then said he ahd a request of her.  He requested that the members of Desert Wind be let go free, with no more black marks on their history and to let the spiders have their caves in peace.  She agreed hoping it would undo years of historical misery.
