‘Star Wars – Medstar I: Battle Surgeons, A Clone Wars Novel’ – Chapter 21 (Part 1)
Monday. Not only was it cyber-Monday, but it was my first day back to work after having a few days off from school. I have to admit that I got spoiled by having those days off. It was nice to have that break and I have to say that I had a very enjoyable vacation which I don’t get very often. It was a rocky day though from beginning to end and I’m still not sure I like how my day really ended. I got up this morning and the kids were already getting ready for school. They were eating breakfast and Heather was off to work while I was getting into the shower. I got out of my shower and ate some breakfast while we watched “The Early Show” on CBS. I have to say that I as shocked about what had happened with Tiger Woods over the weekend. It’s ridiculous that the guy wrapped his car around a fire hydrant (like he wasn’t drunk!), but then to find out that this guy may have had a mistress and was cheating on his wife. Man, NO ONE is sacred anymore and I swear everyone is cheating on their spouse. What kind of message are we sending to society? Cheating’s okay as long as you don’t get caught? Not great things to be passing along to the next generation. Not too long after I was off to work while the kids were off to school.
I got t0 school and it was “go time” from the minute I got out of my car till the minute I left the building. I got inside and started to set up the auditorium for the concert. I spent a lot of time this morning in the auditorium moving equipment around. That went all the way into second period when I had a prep period and I spent my time getting the sound system set up. I then taught my classes today and they seemed to go pretty well. I have one class that is surprising me about how much they do know and I have another class that is shockingly slow when it comes to reading music. Makes me wonder if they are really behind in English class. I got done with my work day and went home in a pretty good mood.
I got home and did some things around the house, helped the kids with some homework and Austin decided to go and get the mail. Well, that’s when my good day turned into a “not so good” day. I found out that our debt reconsolidation plan involved us filing for bankruptcy. I was pretty cheesed off when I found out and Heather claimed that was NOT the case. We got into a huge heated argument over the matter. I then went online and researched what we had started. It’s not as bad as I had initially had thought, but I sill feel as though we’ve been swindled. The lawyer filed us under Chapter 13 bankruptcy which is a form of debt reconsilidation. Apparently that is the way debt consilidation companies have to do it anymore. Especially when it comes to student loans. We are on a five year payment plan and on a ten year debt plan. In five years, we owe nothing to all our debt collectors except the government for my student loans (which we renegotiate then). We can take out other loans in between, but a judge has to approve of us taking out the loans (gotta love BIG BROTHER!). Then in ten years, our lives go back to normal and we are in complete control. Not sure I like all this control the government has over my life, but apparently all of this is to “reform the credit law” in this country and I can once again thank our illustrious president for rushing legislation through to force us to take this step.
After some heated arguing, Heather had managed to take some CV students to a bowling meet and come home. I took Austin to Scouts and Heather picked him up and delivered wreaths that he had ordered for a fundraiser. They got home and I watched “Heroes”, “Two and A Half Men”, “Big Bang Theory” and the “Friend’s of Pauly Shore” comedy special on Showtime before we went to bed.
Okay, so let’s cover Part 1 of Chapter 21 of “Star Wars – Medstar I: Battle Surgeons, A Clone Wars Novel” by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry…..Chapter 21 (Part 1): The night was warm and the bugs were getting zapped by the lights and traps and the planet was horrible to look at in the night. The spy was now connecting with the people he/she had been working with and he/she was officially going “native” and started to believe they were doing the right thing for the right reasons. You could convince young soldiers of the demonization of the enemy soldiers. You introduced them as people that watned to kill their mothers and fathers and burn the countryside. But these soldiers rarely actually saw the enemy face to face because modern warfare didn’t require them to. But when they did, the shock was overwhelming at times. When a recruit saw another soldier on the field begging for mercy and holding his guts in, it gave the trooper time to pause which may make him hesitate the next time he sees an enemy. But as a spy you could not think of your enemy in the same manner. You come to know your enemy almost as well as your own brother. He knew the staff at this Rimsoo were decent men and outside of war he could have been a friend to any of them. So it kind of hurt the spy to think that some harm may come to those around him/her. The spy knew they had to live their life as a lie because if they were caught, they would be killed rather quickly. The military have no mercy for spies. For a spy ther was no glory though. Even a successful mission ended without fanfare. You had to be a strong person to be a spy. The spy tries to validate what they do, but at the end of he day good people are just good people. You knew the innocent would suffer because of the decisions made by those at the top. People would die and the fears would have to wait. Tomorrow was yet another day…..
